Kat Holmes is an emerging artist and a BA Fine Art graduate from the University of the West of England (UWE). She has been a practising artist since the age of 21 and has been deeply and obsessively engaged with painting ever since.

Currently, Holmes is a studio resident at Document in Bristol, although she is presently living and creating work in the North West of England.

The themes Kat consistently explores—returning to them again and again—are emotionally charged explorations, often drawn from personal experiences of love, loss, abandonment, and the continuously shifting perception of self and the external world.

Her practice continues to evolve, particularly in terms of conceptual relevance. She has recently adopted a more tactical and methodical approach to painting—often comparing the process to working through a mathematical equation. The act of making, revisiting, and reworking a piece is essential to her methodology.

A painting, for Kat, is not considered complete until it has been thoroughly reconsidered, revised, and resolved over time
